Debbie McDonald had the best finish ever turned in by a U.S. rider and became the first U.S. rider to hold the title of Dressage World Cup Champion when she won the 2003 World Cup Dressage Final in Gothenburg , Sweden . McDonald earned the Championship when she finished with a score of 78.89% in the Grand Prix Freestyle riding Mrs. Peggy C. Thomas's Brentina. She followed that up in June by helping the U.S. finish second in the team competition at Aachen where she also placed third individually. McDonald had an impressive year in 2002. At the World Equestrian Games McDonald and Brentina helped the U.S. dressage squad capture the team Silver Medal, marking the best finish ever for a United States dressage team in any World Championship or Olympic Games. Individually, McDonald had this country's best performance in history by coming in fourth by the slimmest of margins. McDonald had a good start in 2002 winning the U.S. Freestyle Championship and the World Cup Dressage U.S. League Final in California riding Brentina. She followed that up by winning the USET Grand Prix Championship at the Bayer/USET Festival of Champions. This was the second straight year that she and Brentina won the USET Grand Prix Championship. At the 1999 Pan American Games, McDonald and Brentina won the individual and team Gold Medals, and gave the USET its first double Gold Medalist since 1983. Earlier in 1999, they also won the State Line Tack/USET Intermediaire I Championship at the Bayer/USET Festival of Champions. As a result of her tremendous efforts, McDonald was honored as the AHSA Equestrian of the Year and USOC Female Equestrian Athlete of the Year.

In 1997, McDonald and Beaurivage rode to a team Silver Medal at the North American Dressage Championships. She also won the FEI World Cup qualifier at Dressage Under the Oaks and the Prix St. Georges, Intermediaire I and Grand Prix at the Mid-Winter Dressage Fair in California . McDonald represented the U.S. at the 1998 World Cup Final in Gothenburg , Sweden .

A native Californian and former hunter-jumper, McDonald runs Sun Valley 's River Grove Farm. She has worked with Hilda Gurney, Steffen Peters and Lilo Fore and most recently with Klaus Balkenhol.

                                            Ingrid Klimke   Nov. 5-6, 2011

                                            Picture

Ingrid Klimke is an extraordinary clinician. She rarely gives clinics as she does not like to be away from her family and horses for too long. So for Ingrid to make a visit to Nova Scotia as her ONLY 2011 North American stop was certainly an honor indeed! 200+ auditors, and 25 selected riders, enjoyed a remarkable weekend in Truro, Nova Scotia. Ingrid taught each and every one of those riders as if they were HER own student. And she expected to see results which she got! She pretty much "rode" the horse along with the rider. An event that everyone involved will never forget!

                                            ***NEWS FLASH  January 10***

I just received THE MOST AMAZING EMAIL....from INGRID KLIMKE!!! I cannot believe that she took the time out of her busy schedule to write to me! The news is true....Ingrid has been awarded the title of RIETMEISTER! And we got the "scoop" first. On Sunday I will post what else she wrote to me as everything will be in the press probably on Monday. And best thing of all.......she said that she would love to return to Nova Scotia!! She had a wonderful time here! So for Ingrid to say that really means a lot to me! Soooooo.......I said "how about I book you for 2014?"LOL! We'll see what happens! But I'll be sure to have her back!!! That made my day!
                                            Ingrid's message:
You will read about it on Sunday hopefully in all news. I was given the title and the honour in Warendorf in November but the open ceremony with the laudation of Hinrich Romeike is on Saturday night where I will sit on my black dressage horse and over hundred friends will join me in spot light in the big Münster show hall. The press will be allowed to print it although everybody involved already know from that moment on. If I wave on the picture I wave to you!!! Please say to Pam that she can print it and the title is called “Reitmeister”
For sure I would love to come back one day! We had a wonderful time and my memories are warm and happy.
Cross the fingers for my new dressage horse which I will compete in Grand Prix also this week end.

Say hello to all of you and all the very best to you from Ingrid

We were even treated to watching Steffen ride a few of the horses! It was a pleasure to have Steffen in Nova Scotia, a first for Atlantic Canada.
