INFORMING THE NOVA SCOTIAN  AND MARITIME DRESSAGE RIDER
Nova Scotia Dressage is a privately developed website managed by Joanne Duston and has been going strong since 2008. I realized at the time, that there was no website which primarily focused on dressage for the Nova Scotian/Maritime dressage rider. Therefore, if you are  looking for information about the local dressage scene this is the place to turn to! Dressage is one of the fastest growing equestrian sports and it is taking off in the Maritimes!  Saluting you at X!

_ _EVERYONE HAS BEEN WAITING TO HEAR WHO WILL BE THE NEXT CLINICIAN FOR THE NSD SYMPOSIUM.

                                            EVENT: "DRESSAGE THROUGH THE LEVELS"
CLINICIANS: JANET FOY AND DEBBIE MCDONALD
                                            WHEN: MAY 4-5, 2013
                                            WHERE: SUMAC FARMS, TRENTON, NS

I am HUGE fans of both these amazing women! I have watched the highly popular videos with Janet and Steffen over and over again. Debbie and Brentina were one of the most famous horse and rider teams seen on the dressage circuit! Debbie is now sought after as a clinician and what a thrill it will be to learn from her!

Janet now works a lot with Debbie and to have them booked to teach this clinic will be a weekend not to miss! This just might be their first appearance together in Canada teaching the "Dressage through the Levels". Janet said that they will explain how we can all try for those "10's"!

This event will be back at the beautiful Sumac Farms. They now have more stalls added as well as more seating. Janet Foy and Debbie McDonald will teach 2 riders per group, and suggested selecting some pros, some A/A, a junior and YR. "We like a variety of breeds, real life in other words. One at each level should be quite good so people can see what the judges looks at for high scores."

As I did for the Steffen Peters clinic, come July I will take reservations for auditor seating. We will look at submissions for rider spots in the Fall.

The three smaller type clinics planned for this year will be with the ever popular  JOHN MACPHERSON. John was last here with us 2 years ago and everyone that participated all agreed it was one of the best clinics! John spent much of last year training in Germany. He has been booked for the following dates:
                                            June 2-3   July 14-16     Sept. 22-23
These clinics will be held at Bello Crest Stables in Truro. I plan on applying for the Dressage Levy funding to help keep the cost down(looking at $90/lesson which is on par with other clinics held). There is already great interest in these clinics and spots will fill up fast. John teaches 10, 45 minute lessons. Most will be private but there will be 2 or 3 spots available for semis. Participants must ride in 2 lessons, one on each day(or for July, 3 lessons, which will be like a summer camp). Stabling is available for a very reasonable fee. LESSONS FILLED ON A FIRST COME FIRST SERVE BASIS. There will also be a waiting list if needed. Free for anyone who would like to audit! Lessons will be rain or shine in a 20 x 40m ring.
MORE INFO TO COME! First step is to sign up! Send me your name and contact email.

10 Signs Your Dressage Test Needs Some Work

                                            1. Under judges remarks the only comment is: "Nice plaits."

                                            2. Your horse confuses the dressage arena boards for a cavaletti and exits at K.

                                            3. Your 20 metre circle shape reminds the judge that she should buy eggs on her way home.

                                            4. Your serpentine was perfect, except that it was supposed to be a straight entry on the centre line.

                                            5. Sitting trot has caused some of your fillings to come loose.

                                            6. Your horse believes "free walk" means leaving the arena and heading towards the nearest patch of grass.

                                            7. You work harder than your horse does in working trot.

                                            8. During the salute, your inadvertently use your whip hand and your horse performs "airs above the ground".

                                            9. Your horse's walk appears to be more "rare" than "medium."

                                            10. Impulsion is improved only after the horse sees monsters in the decorative conifers near letters marking the dressage arena.
